As our first stop we got to walk through the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. This involved walking through their museum seeing old saddles, buckles, and costumes used and won by past rodeo champions. It displayed people competing in rodeo events as well as the rodeo queens and stock contractors. Each group of people had a vital role in developing rodeo into what it is now.
As we walked through the museum it led to an outdoor arena and barn with two mares and their babies. They are bred to be bucking horses used in rodeos throughout the west. Each part of the museum taught about the heritage and foundation of rodeo.
At the very end we watched a video created to display how rodeo began, when the cowboys would compete on their livestock after moving cattle across states. This began around 1969. It explained how the rules formed and that the association is now called the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association. Lastly it explained the rodeo world today, like how much the animals are worth and what their lives are like, how cowboys and girls qualify for the National Finals Rodeo (NFR), and its popularity growth.
